Lectors
Lector's Prayer:
"May the Lord be in my heart and on my lips
that I may worthily proclaim the Good News of Salvation."
Through the Lectors proclaiming God's Word at each Mass the Lord speaks to His people.
When preparing the readings, each Lector takes the time to study the relationship
among the three readings in order to understand what he/she is proclaiming. God's Word
is meant to be a transforming influence in the lives of those who hear it. Lectors are
a critical component of the task of proclamation and therefore prepare carefully for this task.
New Lectors are always needed. Everyone is welcome to participate
in this part of the liturgical celebration.

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are active parishioners who are selected and trained to assist
in the distribution of Holy Communion, especially at the weekend Masses.
Some Eucharistic Ministers, after additional training, also bring Communion to the elderly
and the sick of the parish who are homebound or who are patients in hospitals or nursing homes.
Through these Eucharistic Ministers the Church reaches out to those members who are unable to
be physically present at the liturgy with the rest of the parish Community, and brings to them
the life, love, and healing touch of Jesus, present in the Eucharist.

Ushers
The ushers serve as the ministers of hospitality, cordially welcoming the worshiping
Parish Community. They always prepare the altar and church environment for Mass and
are available to escort people to their seats, when necessary.
During the Preparation of the Gifts, the ushers assist in the collection of the contributions
of the congregation and place them at the altar. They arrange and prepare the family or group
to bring the gifts to the priest at the Offertory. At Communion, they may direct the flow of
worshipers, and assist the disabled, and help with other necessities, to assure the smooth flow
of the Liturgy.

Music Ministry
The Music Ministry of St. Dorothea's is dedicated to offering timely and meaningful music at
all Masses in support of the congregation. It is comprised of a choir, cantors, and musicians
who play the organ, piano, guitar or other instruments.
The choir (male and female voices) sings on a rotating schedule. It meets on a regular basis
from 7:30 to 8:45 PM on Thursday evenings. Music ministries occasionally prepare special
liturgies and programs. We welcome additional musicians and those who enjoy singing.
In addition, there is a children's choir that meet on a regular basis at 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM on
Thursday evening in the church. The choir sings on the 2nd Saturday of the month for the
children's Liturgy. Children of all ages are invited to participate. Anyone wishing to make a
commitment to the adult or children's music ministry program may contact the Music Ministry Coordinator.
